There exist very close relation between ESAS and SCENET. Several ESAS Board members are also SCENET Steering Committee Members and the activities of SCENET, well funded by the European Union until March 2006, match ideally with several goals of ESAS.
Main activities of SCENET
are:
" to promote the development of commercial applications of superconductivity
in Europe through the activity of six working groups, by avoiding duplication
of efforts and exploiting better the existing resources and experience of European
laboratories and industries;
" to organise schools on superconductivity and its applications for young
European researchers.
" to organise topical workshops in the field of superconductivity and its
applications;
" to circulate widely a regular newsletter (one number every four months)
available also on the internet providing recent results in superconductivity,
commissioned articles highlighting important new developments, information about
future conferences and workshops, and information on points of contact;
" to support short term (until 3 months) visits for transfer of personnel
between research groups in academia, government, and industry, and for facilitating
technology transfer in every direction.
